LOCATING THE HERD
The Buffalo provided the Plains Indians with all they needed for survival,clothing, tipis,tools & weapons even the dung(Buffalo chips)was used for fuel for their fires.Greedy & cruel European settlers almost hunted the animal to extinction,stripping off the hides & leaving the flesh to rot.The demise of the Buffalo also saw the demise of the Plains Indians destroying a truly unique way of life which allowed them to live free from the many problems we now face in life.
The painting shows Crow Buffalo hunters making use of a trade telescope to spy out the herd.
